Terms of Use

Culturally Speaking Inc. · Last updated: October 24, 2026

Please read this first

These Terms affect your legal rights. They include limits on our liability (sections 12 and 13) and how disputes are resolved (section 16). Section 17 explains protections that apply where you live, which these Terms cannot take away.

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of culturallyspeaking.com and its pages, content, forms, and demonstrations (the “Site”), operated by Culturally Speaking Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Culturally Speaking,” “we,” “us”). By using the Site you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. What the Site is

The Site introduces Culturally Speaking and the Cultural Navigation System™ (“CNS”), a concept in development. The CNS is not yet available. The walkthroughs on the Site are simulations that illustrate the concept; the final experience will be developed with Pilot partners and may differ from what is shown. The Site also shares articles such as Daily Culture Dose™, invites people to share their stories, invites visitors to add an anonymous thread to the Culturally Speaking® Community™ map, and invites organizations and investors to request a private walkthrough. Any future Pilot or product will be governed by separate agreements.

3. Changes

We may update these Terms and change or remove any part of the Site at any time. The “Last updated” date shows the current version, and we will give notice on the Site before any significant change. Continuing to use the Site after a change takes effect means you accept it.

4. Eligibility

The Site is for a general audience. You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if higher, to use our forms, share a story, add a thread to the Culturally Speaking® Community™ map, or request a walkthrough. Teachers and schools, please contact us before using the map with students. If you act for an organization, you confirm you have authority to do so.

5. Not professional advice

The Site and its simulated walkthroughs are for information only. They do not assess, diagnose, or advise any person, and nothing on the Site is professional, medical, psychological, counseling, therapy, legal, financial, or employment advice. Any future use of the CNS by institutions will be governed by separate agreements. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

6. Simulations, case studies and statistics

Walkthroughs, case studies, characters, and Pilot designs on the Site are illustrative. Some characters are fictional, and some are composites drawn from real experiences with identifying details changed; none depicts a specific real person. Proposed Pilot measures are targets, not results. Statistics come from the third-party sources named beside them, are accurate to the best of our knowledge on the date cited, and may change.

7. No offer of securities

Nothing on the Site is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, any security. Any investment opportunity is offered only through formal documents provided directly to eligible investors. Statements about plans, Pilots, markets, or future performance are forward-looking and are not guarantees.

8. Sharing your story

  • You keep ownership of your story. So that we can receive it, you allow us to store, copy, and read it only to operate the Site and respond to you; this permission ends when your story is deleted.
  • We keep your story private. Only Culturally Speaking’s founder and the service providers named in our Privacy Policy, who store it for us, can access it.
  • We publish your story, or any detail that could identify you or anyone else, only with your separate written consent. That consent will describe where and how it may appear and how you are credited (full name, first name only, or anonymously), and you may withdraw it for future use at any time.
  • Please share only your own true experience, and leave out details that identify other people unless they have agreed.
  • You can ask us to delete your story at any time by emailing yourstory@adoptingthreads.com.
  • We read every story but have no obligation to respond to, keep, or publish any submission, and we may delete one that breaks section 11.

8A. Adding a thread to the Culturally Speaking® Community™ map

  • Adding a thread is optional. A thread is your answers to the map’s multiple-choice questions and the region where you live now; it carries no name.
  • Because a thread carries no name or identifier, you cannot see, change, or remove your own thread after you add it, and neither can we, except by resetting the whole map. Before you begin, you confirm that you understand your thread is anonymous and can’t be edited or removed once added.
  • You allow us, free of charge and without time limit, to store your thread, to show and report it as part of the map’s totals, and to include it in the Community Tapestry and in any digital or physical work made from the tapestry. We may display, reproduce, and describe that work, and place it with a cultural or arts organization. If no organization is chosen, the work remains with Culturally Speaking Inc. You will not be named or credited individually, and adding a thread gives you no payment or ownership in the tapestry or any work made from it.
  • Please add at most one thread a day, about your own experience, and only by hand. Section 11 applies.
  • The map shows counts of threads that visitors chose to add. It is not a survey and does not measure any community, region, or group. Small numbers show as ranges, and public totals update once an hour.
  • The Community Tapestry follows the same rules as the map and shows totals only. Plans for a finished piece, including its timing, its form, and where it is placed, may change, and we will describe them on the Site.
  • We may change, pause, reset, or end the map, and remove threads that appear automated or abusive.
  • The Culturally Speaking® Community™ is in development. Joining its waitlist does not create a membership or an account.

9. Ideas and feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback about our products or the Site, we may use them without any obligation to you. This permission never applies to personal stories, personal information, or confidential information shared under a non-disclosure agreement, which that agreement governs.

10. Intellectual property

The Site and its content, design, graphics, and code are owned by Culturally Speaking or its licensors. The Community Tapestry and any digital work made from it are owned by Culturally Speaking Inc. Ownership of any physical work commissioned from artists is set in the agreement with those artists. Culturally Speaking® is a registered trademark used by Culturally Speaking Inc. with the permission of its owner. Cultural Navigation System™, Identity Orchestration™, Adopting Threads™, Acceptance Architecture™, Culturally Speaking® Community™, and Daily Culture Dose™ are trademarks used by Culturally Speaking Inc. You may share links to the Site and quote brief excerpts with attribution. Any other copying, adaptation, or commercial use requires our written permission. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, email culturally@culturallyspeaking.com with details of the work, where it appears on the Site and your contact information.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit unlawful, harmful, hateful, harassing, false, or misleading content;
  • impersonate anyone, misrepresent your affiliation, or suggest that Culturally Speaking endorses you;
  • attempt to access systems or data without authorization, upload harmful code, or interfere with the Site;
  • scrape or harvest content or personal information;
  • use Site content, including our frameworks, text, and designs, to train, fine-tune, or benchmark artificial intelligence models, or to build a competing product;
  • add threads to the community map by automated means, more than once a day, or on behalf of other people;
  • submit content by automated means, send spam, or try to bypass our spam protection.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Culturally Speaking and its officers, directors, employees, advisors, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed US$100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Culturally Speaking against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Site.

15. Third-party links and services; suspension

The Site links to and uses third-party services, which their own terms govern; we are not responsible for them. We may suspend access or remove content if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken. Sections 8A to 14 and 16 to 18 continue to apply after your use ends.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any formal claim, you and we each agree to send a written notice of the dispute (to us at culturally@culturallyspeaking.com, subject line “Notice of dispute”) and to try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days. Disputes that are not resolved will be decided by the state and federal courts located in Delaware, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from contacting a government agency.

17. Regional terms

Consumer protection laws in many places give you rights that a contract cannot remove, and nothing in these Terms limits them. In particular:

  • EEA, UK, and Switzerland: if you are a consumer, you benefit from the mandatory laws of your country and may bring a claim in your local courts, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
  • Quebec: sections 12, 13 and 16 apply only as the Consumer Protection Act allows, and you may bring a claim in Quebec.
  • Japan and the Republic of Korea: sections 12 and 13 apply only as the Consumer Contract Act (Japan) and the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions (Korea) allow.
  • California: you may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or (800) 952-5210.
  • Elsewhere, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and South Africa: limits in these Terms apply only as your local consumer protection law allows.

18. General

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If you use the Site from outside the United States, you are responsible for following local laws and may not use it in violation of U.S. export control or sanctions laws.
